About SaltAI

27 years of enterprise software. Applied to Shopify.

SaltAI is built by someone who spent a career at IBM and then as a freelance consultant — delivering large-scale transformation programmes across finance, telecoms, public sector, logistics, and security — and then ran a food business on Shopify and found the tools weren't good enough.

The story

We ran a food business on Shopify called Vanda's Kitchen — a halal-certified catering operation supplying corporate clients including Selfridges, Accenture, Red Bull, and Epic Games.

We needed an allergen matrix on our product pages. There wasn't one on the Shopify App Store — not one built properly for food businesses. We needed corporate clients to be able to order meals for their whole team without 30 separate checkout sessions. That didn't exist either. We needed to publish 200 blog posts efficiently. The only tool that could do it charged £200 a month and was built for inventory management, not content.

So we built what we needed. Each time we hit a wall, we built the app. Then we looked around and realised every food business on Shopify had the same walls.

That's SaltAI. 20 apps built because the merchant who needed them couldn't find them anywhere else.

The builder

27 years in enterprise IT. A decade at IBM, then nine years as a freelance consultant delivering large-scale transformation programmes across every major industry — finance, telecoms, public sector, logistics, security, and policing — for organisations of 65,000+ people.

The work covered the full delivery lifecycle: business analysis, use case definition, system testing, QA, and programme management. The kind of software delivery where requirements are interrogated properly before a line of code is written, test cases cover every edge condition, and the system has to work on day one because the alternative affects tens of thousands of people.

That discipline doesn't change when the client is a Shopify merchant rather than a government department or a bank. Every SaltAI app is scoped with the same rigour: defined problem, documented requirements, tested edge cases — flat pricing, no enterprise overhead.

The approach

One app. One problem. Done properly.

Each app solves one specific problem. Not a suite of loosely related features bundled together. Not a tool that does eight things mediocrely. One problem, done properly.

Flat rates. No credits. No revenue share.

Every app has a flat monthly price. No credit-based limits that run out. No revenue share that punishes you for growing. Priced for the merchant running the business, not the enterprise buying the licence.

Free tiers that are actually useful.

Every app (except SaltAI Subscriptions) has a free plan. Not a 7-day trial. Not a plan with one feature that forces an immediate upgrade. A free plan you can actually use to run your business while you evaluate.

Tested properly — not just "shipped and hoped".

System testing and QA are not afterthoughts here. They're the discipline the builder spent 27 years applying to enterprise software at IBM and across large-scale programmes in finance, government, and telecoms. Every app runs live at Vanda's Kitchen before it ships. Edge cases are documented. Failure modes are tested. That's a different standard.
